Fiberglass Sheet Pile

What is fiberglass sheet pile

Sheet piling refers to any type of retaining wall (installed into the ground by driving or pushing rather than pouring or injection) that has a relatively thin cross section and a lower weight so that the weight of the wall is not detrimental to the stability of the wall.

Fiberglass sheet pile is a new type of high-strength composite material, which is green and environmentally friendly. There are special formulas for one-time extrusion molding, the shape of frp sheet pile is designed according to the principle of physics. It adopts the section design of large moment of inertia, and is combined with multi-direction concave and convex joints to become a new bank protection structure with continuity, high strength and high lateral bending resistance.

Fiberglass composite sheet piles are produced by pultrusion process and are suitable for harsh marine environments, flood control systems etc.

Types of sheet piling

The modern sheet piling industry is over 100 years old, with perhaps the most important changes in product types and choices since the early 1970s. Sheet piles are made of a variety of materials. The material chosen depends on many factors, including strength and environmental requirements. The designer must consider the possibility of material deterioration and its effect on the structural integrity of the system.

Common types are wood sheet piles, steel sheet piles, concrete sheet piles, light aluminum sheet piles, vinyl sheet piles, fiberglass sheet piles. Vinyl sheet pile is a relatively new sheet that can be used in seawalls and other sheet pile applications in a variety of ways. Generally, continuous extrusion method is used for manufacturing. The raw material, the plastic resin compound, is melted and pushed through the mold. FRP pultruded sheet pile is a pile produced by continuous processing of raw materials by pulling resin-rich reinforcement material through heated steel molds to form profiles with a constant cross section of continuous length.

Advantages of fiberglass sheet pile

FRP composite sheet pile is one of the strongest and most durable synthetic pile products in the world. FRP composite materials are preferred when environmental considerations require sheet pile wall structures not to rot, rust or peel off.

Will not rot or rust

Tolerates the effects of most chemicals

Not affected by salt water

High strength, good toughness, good anti-overturning performance

Strong seismic capacity, high bearing capacity of single pile

Strong hardness, strong compressive strength and impact resistance

No adverse effects on soil and water bodies

Low project cost, long engineering life (can reach 50 years), require little maintenance and save money.

Application

River embankment protection and remediation

For causeway

Reinforced flood walls

Retaining system

As cut - off wall

Impervious walls in ecologically threatened areas

Conclusion

FRP sheet pile can be a good substitute for steel sheet pile, especially in extreme long, heavy top load, soil pollution and other harsh conditions. FRP composite sheet piles offer a huge opportunity to reduce project costs, extend project life and create a lower environmental impact than using steel products. Fiberglass sheet pile is widely used in retaining wall, seawall, cut-off wall, cofferdam and cofferdam.

Purchasing fiberglass sheet pile is an investment that you are sure you will not regret. Not only are the lowly priced but also constructed in a way that they are durable.
